Clément Cordon Prize of the French Académie des sciences is given by Fondation Institut de France "for the outstanding work in the field of applied science and technology."
From the official release: Peter Reiss develops low-toxicity semiconductor nanocrystals, also known as quantum dots, for applications ranging from biological imaging and optoelectronics to energy conversion and storage. The innovative synthesis methods and new materials he has developed have led to the creation of a start-up company and are the subject of numerous publications and patents.
